What is MSHA?
The role of the U.S. Department of Labor’s Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) is to enforce safety and health rules for all US mines, and all electrical products manufactured for use in hazardous areas of underground mines in the US must be approved by MSHA.
What types of equipment require MSHA approval?
All electrical products manufactured for use in hazardous areas of underground mines must be approved by MSHA. Examples of equipment commonly requiring approval include lights, batteries, panels, gas detectors, breathing apparatus, motors, and face cutters.

What is the process when working with Eurofins CML for MSHA product approval?
The manufacturer will open a project with Eurofins CML to assess (and test) the product against the MSHA requirements. Once complete, a project is opened with MSHA where they will assess the technical file.
